Go! by Mario

Biography
b. Mario Barrett, 27 August 1986, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. This teenage R&B sensation rose to prominence in 2002. Mario decided at an early age that he wanted to pursue a career in entertainment, as he began utilizing a karaoke machine and tinkering on his mother’s piano. Soon he began emulating renowned artists such as Usher and Stevie Wonder, and performed at numerous school talent shows and singing competitions.

After moving to Northern New Jersey, Mario signed a recording contract with J Records, resulting in the release of a self-titled debut in July 2002, when he was still only 15 years old. The album spawned a popular video/single, “Just A Friend 2002“, which paid tribute to an earlier, similarly titled track from Biz Markie back in 1989 (Markie even made a cameo in the song’s video). Mario featured input by some of the top urban producers of the early twenty-first century, including Warryn Campbell, Harvey Mason, and Gerald Isaac, plus a couple of guest vocal spots by Alicia Keys.

Mario maintained his commercial momentum in 2004 when the single “Let Me Love You” climbed into the US Top 5 at the end of the year. The singer’s second album, Turning Point, was released in December, shortly before “Let Me Love You” reached the number 1 slot.

About The Album “GO”
Mario’s third album Go! which was released in South Africa under Gallo Records on October 09, 2007, in the U.S. on December 11th 2007 and includes collaborations with Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Janice Robinson, Eric West, Scott Storch, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Timbaland, Bryan Michael Cox, Nelly, Alicia Keys, The Neptunes, Jim Jonsin, Akon, Dre & Vidal, Warren Campbell, Sean Garrett, Trey Songz and Mr. Collipark. Mario, who has described the album as “sex… more personal… more passionate”, had more creative control on Go! than on his previous two albums.

The first single to be lifted from the album was “How Do I Breathe.” The second single that is now in rotation is “Crying Out For Me“. On December 13, 2007, Mario was on “106 & Park” where he stated that his third single off the album will be “Music For Love“. The entire album was made available for the public to listen to on his Myspace page before its release. He also has a new song that came out on December 11, “Do Right“.

In a interview with Billabord and DJ Booth, Mario stated that he is going to tour and work with singers to their projects and start record a new album “by the time school starts back up, like after next summer.” “You can imagine how many different concepts and things I had,” the 21-year-old explains. “But there’s really even more than that, because I’m gonna start recording, like, [at] the end of January.” He also confirmed he is working on records with Cassidy, Fabolous, Gorilla Zoe, Chris Brown & Tyrese Gibson, although he said that all of the collaborations would probably not make the final release.
